We created an easy interface within the app dashboard that is editable directly in BigCommerce.
Order Protection Section:
- You can turn the order protection feature on and off using the "enable protection" toggle button.
- You have the option to use a simple percetange or a tiered pricing method to calculate the order protection fee that you will charge your customers. We typically recommend the percentage to be 1%-4% of the order subtotal to pursuade your customers to opt in. If you receive a mix of small and large orders, we recommned that you use lower percentages as the order value increases.
- You can choose to have the order protection fee to be selected by default after the customers adds an item to the cart.
- We offer two options on how the order protection fee is shown: 1) as a digital item that will be added on the cart and checkout page. The order protection fee will appear as an additional item after the customer places the order. 2) As a checkout fee where the order protection fee will be added as an order level fee, not as an additional item. Please note that with this option, the order protection fee will be added on the checkout page, not on the cart page.
Tipping Section:
- You can turn the tipping feature on and off using the "enable tipping" toggle button.
- We find that customers are more likely to add a tip when the tip options are in small dollar amounts. For example: $2, $5, $10, $12, $15, etc. Add your custom tip amount in dollars only, not a percentage.
- You have the option to automatically include a tip amount, we recommend keeping this option off to make sure customers don't get upset if they didn't mean to leave a tip. (And gives them more control!)
- You have the option to allow custom tips where the customer selects the tipping amount.
- The tip is added as an order level fee only, not as an additional line item.
Widget Text:
- This is where you can customize the text that will be shown next to the order protection and tipping widgets on your website.
- "Hide Widgets Inside The Shipping Section": When this toggle is enabled, the order protection and tipping widgets will be hidden inside the shipping section on mobile. On a desktop device, the order protection will be hidden inside the shipping section and the tipping will be shown under the order summary. Please note that the checkout page HAS to refresh in order to apply the fees. If most of your customers use ApplePay/PayPal and don't even get to open the BigCommerce shipping section, we recommend keeping this option DISABLED, otherwise, the order protection fee will never get to refresh the page and include the fee. Please reach out to us if you have any questions about this!
- Next, you can customize the tipping text. We encourage you to add a message that is related to your business! For example, for a small business you can write: "Support our small business", for women owned you can write: "Support our women owned business", etc. You can also add emojis. We also recommend that you indicate who the tips will be going to (our team, our production crew, the agent that assisted you, etc).
Reporting Section:
- The reporting section will show you how much revenue you generated from the order protection and tips. You can view the daily/monthly/yearly amounts. We also separated the tips from the order protection fees so you know exactly how much in tips you'll need to give your team.
