We didn’t set out to build a software company; we set out to solve a problem for our own BigCommerce store. As e-commerce merchants, we found ourselves stuck between two frustrating options for protecting our shipments and supporting our team:

• The Corporate "Middleman" Model: We tried apps that offered insurance directly. The problem? They kept the lion's share of the revenue, leaving us with crumbs. More importantly, our customers were forced into long, complicated claims processes with third-party adjusters rather than dealing with the brand they trusted—us.
• The Scalability Tax: We looked at other solutions that charged based on order volume. As we grew, these apps became an anchor, potentially costing thousands of dollars per year just to provide basic checkout functionality.

We knew there had to be a better way—a way that was transparent for the merchant and seamless for the customer. 

When we couldn't find it, we built it ourselves.
